What is a Read-a-Thon?
A read-a-thon is a fundraiser where we, the Candeo Community, joins together to raise funds by READING. Participants raise funds by collecting pledges for each book or each page read. Our goal is to have 100% participation! Readers will be challenged to read either 14 books or 400 pages in 14 days.
When? Feb. 1st – Feb. 14th
On Feb. 1st, students will receive Read-a-Thon materials that will help them keep track of their reading and their pledges. Students can start reading right away and collecting pledges. Reading Records and Pledge Sheets should be turned in to teachers on Feb. 15th.
Why? Because we LOVE Reading! Reading is a fun way to help raise $ for our school. Also, there are PRIZES! Participation Prizes will be given out to all participants. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes will be awarded to the students in each grade that raise the most money.
Book Donations We are also collecting books! Do you have books that you no longer read? Please bring in your ‘gently loved’ books, for our classrooms. Teachers will be invited to go through the collection and pick their favorites. Unclaimed books will be donated to the Sunrise Mountain Public Library or VNSA, a reseller that benefits local charities.
Book Donations can be dropped off at the front desk anytime between Feb. 1st and Feb. 14th.
